HR Director

Job Summary

Our growing firm employs approximately 40 individuals and the Human Resource Director is responsible for managing every aspect of their employment needs. Additional responsibilities include full cycle recruiting, payroll and benefit administration, and compliance with federal, state, and company regulatory requirements and procedures.

Under the direction of the CEO and CHRO, the HR Director creates and implements employee relations policies to help increase employees’ job satisfaction. The HR Director communicates with employees about compensation, benefits, and other facets regarding their employment.

As HR Director, you are a member of the Executive Team, and together are responsible for supporting the company’s vision and mission. As HR Director, you will be in contact with current and prospective employees, and you are in a strong position to influence their satisfaction and our company prosperity. This position requires tact, sensitivity, and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General and Administrative

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and respect for all individuals.
  • Communicate effectively with the Owners, the Sales Team, and the Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that company objectives are met.
  • Follow company systems and procedures. 
  • Participate as a key team player by supporting operations as needed.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements

Human Resources

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding.
  • Process payroll, PTO tracking, and benefit enrollments and changes.
  • Manage open enrollment and insurance renewals.
  • Manage and administer short- and long-term disability claims, workers’ compensation claims, and COBRA.
  • Guides management by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, and methods; communicating and enforcing organizational values.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in HR professional conferences and educational opportunities.
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries, problems and complaints and facilitate satisfactory resolution.
  • Prepare all assigned reports and correspondence accurately and on time.
  • Create and maintain HR files.
  • Provide support to the executive team.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • 10 or more years’ experience in the human resources field.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in a human resources leadership position.
  • SHRM-CP, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Proven listening and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate requests and actions in a concise, clear, and timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people skills.
  • Excellent leadership and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to details and interested in preventing errors and solving problems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management skills.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong computer and mathematical / accounting skills.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the building to gather information as needed.
  • Previous experience or an understanding of a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
